About Lushea

Hi there, nice to meet you....

Hello, I’m Lushea, a qualified accredited Integrative Counsellor (Person Centred Approach) . As a professional counsellor , I am dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate their emotional and psychological challenges in Hoarding ( decluttering), Relationships, Child Trauma and  attachment related Issues.

PTSD (  post-traumatic stress disorder),  Anxiety disorders, loneliness, depression, stress,  Childhood Experiences

Panic Attacks,  Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

Before I ever trained as a counsellor, I was a client myself—working through the painful impact of growing up in a home surrounded by severe clutter not lead by myself.  That experience shaped me deeply. Therapy became a turning point in my life, helping me face, understand, and heal from those difficult chapters of what someone else was going through but placed around me. Through that process of stress, loneliness, sadness , and feeling suffocated amongst clutter  I discovered not only personal freedom, but a calling. I knew I wanted to support others who were ready to face their own struggle with clutter—compassionately, without judgment, and at their own pace. I’ve been there witnessing someone in denial and having to carry the burden I did not create, and I now walk alongside others on their journey to help them reach their potential selves of freedom having a healthier well being and ticking those boxes of aspirations.

There are various types of approaches in counselling that not many people are aware of, example ; Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behaviour, Solution Focused Based etc . I'm specialised and qualified  in The Person-Centred Approach.  I  believe that people have an innate capacity for self-understanding and personal growth .  I provide a non-directive, safe environment where the client feels accepted and empowered to explore their emotions and experiences at their own pace .

Main Core Objectives To Explore Are:

  •  Self-awareness and self-understanding : It helps clients explore and make sense of their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a safe, accepting environment.
  •   Personal growth and self-actualisation : The approach encourages clients to realise their full potential, develop autonomy, and become more congruent (authentic and true to themselves).
  •  Emotional Healing: By offering empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness, the therapist provides the conditions that promote healing from emotional pain, trauma, or distress.
  •  Building self-worth and self acceptance : Many clients come to counselling with low self-esteem or self-doubt. The Person-Centred Approach aims to help clients feel valued and accepted, leading to greater self-confidence .
  •  Making empowered choices : Rather than directing or advising, the approach supports clients in discovering their own solutions and making decisions that align with their values and needs.

At Lushea Counselling Care Therapy, I believe that everyone has the potential to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life- overcoming emotional barriers and reaching their potential self with the right guidance and support. My counselling service is designed to help  clients unlock their potential and achieve their goals.

  1. Prevalence
It’s estimated that 2–5% of people may have hoarding disorder. In Dudley, this could mean up to 6,750 households are affected—though only around 5% come to the attention of local services sandwell.gov.uk+15dudleysafeguarding.org.uk+15bbc.co.uk+15.

  2. Public Safety Incidents
From April 2021 to March 2023, West Midlands Fire Service identified 92 cases of “disorganised living” (often linked to hoarding), and recorded 6 deaths plus 33 injuries from fires in hoarding-related properties bbc.co.uk+1reddit.com+1dudleysafeguarding.org.uk+1bbc.co.uk+1.

  3. Local Multi-Agency Response
Sandwell and Dudley Councils have introduced formal hoarding frameworks, bringing together fire services, adult social care, housing, and safeguarding teams to identify and support individuals before enforcement action is needed walsallsp.co.uk+4dudleysafeguarding.org.uk+4sandwell.gov.uk+4.

  4. Charity Intervention
In Birmingham, Clouds End CIC supports over 300 people with hoarding disorder through its “Chaos 2 Order” programme. The city now sees hoarding as a “mental health emergency” and is calling for coordinated national action reddit.com+14bbc.co.uk+14bbc.co.uk+14.

  5. Major Risk Factors
Hoarding is frequently linked to trauma, self-neglect, and co-occurring mental health issues (e.g., ADHD, OCD, depression), and often becomes more severe with age. Only a small fraction of cases receive professional attention reddit.com+13itv.com+13dudleysafeguarding.org.uk+13.
